This regular blog will show you some of the projects currently in our shop. They may not be finished, but we hope you’ll find them inspiring, because the best ideas are those about to become reality.
Here’s what was in our shop on January 17, 2020:
Did you ever wonder how a tree becomes a floor?
This photo progression shows you how we bring in rough cut planks from the sawmill, mill them to a consistent thickness; cut them to the right width; router tongue and groove joints into sides and ends.
Can you spot the seam?
This 16’ long molding is made by joining two pieces of wood together. But, unless you have eyes like an eagle, you can’t find where the seam is. The woodgrains match almost perfectly and the stain obliterates any hints of the seam. Click on the photo above to see the technique we use to create the illusion of one long board.
More corner room
This ingenious hardware set up allowed us to provide more cabinet space in a tight squeeze.
That’s some fancy woodwork
Cathedral-shaped doors to fit in both rectangular and curved openings. These are going to be absolutely beautiful when finished and installed. Even the jamb is a work of art.
The perfect finished seam
Sometimes we want to hide joinery seams. Other times they become the perfect detail in a beautiful mantel.
