THE SWISS WOODCRAFT STORY

45 Years of Perfection

Ken Maibach is not a carpenter—he is a meticulous businessman who partnered with Dave Rufener, a highly skilled, self-taught carpenter. Both were perfectionists in their own way. Dave rarely let a project leave the shop until every detail met his exacting standards, while Ken's idea of perfection was ensuring things were done right and that customers always got what they wanted.

Together, they built Swiss Woodcraft from a small carpentry shop into one of the most successful millwork businesses in northeast Ohio—a place known for exceptional craftsmanship, outstanding customer service, and fair dealings. Though Dave Rufener eventually retired to pursue other interests, Ken Maibach continued to grow the company, making strategic investments in high-quality equipment and skilled craftsmen. His passion lies in tackling challenging projects where the Swiss Woodcraft team can truly make a difference.

Todd Gasser, Ken’s son, later joined the company and became a partner, working alongside his father to expand the business in new and innovative directions. After 43 years as President, Ken retired and Todd now leads Swiss Woodcraft.

Today, Swiss Woodcraft’s master craftsmen operate in a pristine 45,000 sq. ft. facility equipped with state-of-the-art machinery sourced from around the world and stocked with a vast selection of wood species. Committed to sustainability, the company utilizes materials efficiently and recycles sawdust and cut-offs to heat the building.

At the front of the facility, a 3,600 sq. ft. showroom showcases an array of sample cabinets, hardwood flooring, doors, moldings, hardware, millwork, and a library of sample finishes and cabinet tops.

Our designers and craftsmen dedicate themselves daily to creating exceptional custom millwork, including cabinets, beams, stairs, doors, windows, moldings, and more. If you’re looking for beautifully crafted woodwork, Swiss Woodcraft is the place to visit.

We invite you to schedule an appointment at our Rittman, Ohio showroom to discuss your next residential or commercial millwork project. We’ll go above and beyond to make your experience as seamless and rewarding as possible.
