Ken Maibach is not a carpenter. He is a fussy businessman who became partners with Dave Rufener who was a highly-skilled, self-taught carpenter. Both were perfectionists in their own way. Dave could rarely let a project out the door until every single detail was perfect in his mind. Ken’s idea of perfection was doing things the right way and always giving customers what they wanted.

Together they built Swiss Woodcraft from a small carpentry shop to one of the most successful millwork shops in northeastern Ohio. A place known for exceptional craftsmanship, customer service and fair dealing. Dave Rufener retired to other pursuits, but Ken Maibach pressed on and continued to grow the company, making strategic investments in high-quality equipment and skilled craftsmen. His special passion has been finding difficult jobs where the Swiss Woodcraft team could add something special to the mix.

Todd Gasser, Ken’s son, joined the company and eventually became a partner working side-by-side with Ken. Together they have charted a way forward to grow the business in a variety of directions.

Today Swiss Woodcraft’s master craftsmen work in an immaculate 45,000 sq. ft. shop filled with modern machinery from around the world, and stocked with substantial inventories of different wood species. In order to make the eco-friendly as possible we use materials judiciously and recycle sawdust and cut-offs to heat the building.

At the front of the building is a 3,600 sq. ft. Showroom filled with sample cabinets, hardwood flooring, doors, moldings, hardware, millwork and a library of sample finishes and cabinet tops.

Our designers and craftsmen work everyday to build spectacular custom millwork, including cabinets, beams, stairs, doors, windows, moldings and more. If you want something beautiful made from wood, Swiss Woodcraft is the place to see.

We invite you to stop in at our Rittman, Ohio showroom and discuss your next residential or commercial millwork project. We’ll do everything we can to make your experience as perfect as possible.
